The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) today announced Chicago’s Rosenwald Courts Apartments project, once home to record producer Quincy Jones, boxer Joe Louis, and Olympian Jesse Owens, as the recipient of the 2018 ACHP/HUD Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation.
Housing affordability is a problem across the country. In fact, one National Low-Income Housing Coalition study found that in 2017 there was no state that is untouched by this issue.
Yesterday in Boston, the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association (NH&RA) presented nine prestigious “Timmy” Awards. Dominium was named a winner of the Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits 2016 Rehabilitation Awards, which will be presented at the Novogradac 2016 Historic Tax Credit Conference in Cleveland. The Historic Rehabilitation Awards were awarded to development teams for developing outstanding properties using the historic tax credit (HTC).
In Buffalo, New York, there is a great architectural legacy forged by two centuries of commerce and some of the countries finest examples of architectural style from the Louis Sullivan Guaranty Building to the Art Deco Buffalo City Hall. Because the city has retained a large number of its historic buildings, there are many opportunities for historic rehabilitation projects utilizing federal and state historic tax credits.
On Tuesday, May 3rd, Wisconsin Redevelopment, LLC was awarded the Progress Lakeshore Neighborhood Development Award for their $8.2 million rehabilitation of Mirro Aluminum Company Plant #3 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
