Tonight, the Renaissance Albany Hotel will be honored at the Preservation League of New York StateExcellence Awards in New York City. This Capital Region landmark was opened at as the DeWitt Clinton Hotel in 1927. Strategically located across from the State Capitol building in the heart of downtown Albany, New York, the building quickly gained a reputation as the place where New York state politicians and legislators met to make deals. In the 1970s it was converted into a senior living facility and eventually subsidized housing, functioning as such until 2006.
Columbia Development Companies has restored the building to its former grandeur as a hotel in New York’s capital city. Since its opening in October 2015, the property has already begun to prove an economic catalyst for the community. The Renaissance Albany Hotel will serve, and is integral to the success of, the new Albany Capital Center that is currently under construction.
Congratulations to Columbia Development Companies and the entire Renaissance Albany team for a job well done! We are proud to have been part of the team.
