At the ULI Chicago 8th Annual Vision Awards on July 10, 2019, MHA project the Carling Hotel won a Vision Award in the Program Category. The ULI Chicago Vision Awards honor those projects that have exemplified the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) ideals and set the standard for successful real estate development in Chicago.
On May 15, 2019, two MHA projects received awards from the Louisiana Landmarks Society for Excellence in Historic Preservation. The awards honored projects completed in 2018 in Orleans Parish for both restoration, rehabilitation, and new construction projects. The MHA projects, Hotel Peter & Paul and St. Stephen Catholic Church, both won in the Institutional Restoration/Rehabilitation category.
On May 9th, 2019, the 2019 Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards (CNDA) honored those who have made a difference in Chicago neighborhoods in 2018. This year marked the 25th CNDA, and the architects Landon Bone Baker Architects received the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Award for Architectural Excellence in Community Design for the Carling Hotel, a project MacRostie Historic Advisors consulted on. The award celebrates thoughtful and successful design for low- to moderate- income populations that addresses a neighborhood need while remaining sensitive to the character and context of the surrounding built environment.
On April 12th, 2019, the Welford Sanders Historic Lofts won a 2019 Historic Preservation Excellence Award from the Wisconsin Association of Historic Preservation Commissions (WAHPC). The Welford Sanders Historic Lofts & Enterprise Center is housed in the historic Nunn Bush Shoe Company Factory in Milwaukee, rehabbed for new affordable housing and affordable business offices for community service organizations.
At the 12th annual ULI Houston Development of Distinction Awards on January 29, 2019, an MHA project won the For Profit - Large Scale award. The awards honor real estate projects in the city of Houston for the past year that have made a difference at all scales and in both public and private projects.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) today announced Chicago’s Rosenwald Courts Apartments project, once home to record producer Quincy Jones, boxer Joe Louis, and Olympian Jesse Owens, as the recipient of the 2018 ACHP/HUD Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation.
On June 13, the ULI Chicago celebrated the winners of their annual Vision Awards. This year's group included four MHA Midwest projects.
Congratulations to the project teams of the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel and the Stony Island Arts Bank in Chicago for each receiving a Dreihaus Preservation Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation at the PastFoward Conference held in Houston, Texas last week.
