Properties must be listed on the National Register of Historic Places or be certified as a contributing building in a National Register-listed historic district in order to be eligible for the 20% Federal Historic Tax Credit.  Check the National Register database to see if your property is already individually listed or contact your State Historic Preservation Office to see if your property is a contributing building in an existing historic district.
