PROJECT OVERVIEW

MacRostie Historic Advisors' Midwest office, in partnership with Baldwin Historic Properties, served as the historic preservation consultant for Village Green Companies' rehabilitation of the Medical Dental Arts Building in downtown Chicago.  Designed by architect Daniel Burnham, Jr. and completed 1926, the Medical Dental Arts Building was built to house doctor and dentist offices as well as medical educational and training facilities.  The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 as part of the Loop Retail Historic District.

The 2006 rehabilitation created 190 boutique apartments and hotel suites with street-level retail and office space.  A medical demonstration auditorium was transformed into leasing and management offices as well as an intimate movie theater for building tenants.  As one of Chicago's first LEED-certified buildings, the MDA City Apartments features a roof top Sky Park that is fully landscaped.
